of her past but it isn't until she and her mom move to a remote barrier island
off the coast of North Carolina that she feels fate has finally
called-secretive and mysterious he stands alone on the edge of the bank.
Her friends tell her to stay away; she hears
rumors that he is dangerous. Still, she can't resist. Whether Talisa realizes

Author Interview
1. What inspired you to write your first book?
My daughters inspired me to write the first and second book. My oldest daughter was in the library complaining that there was nothing she wanted to read. She said everything bored her. I asked her if she'd be interested in something if I wrote it. She said she'd be very interested. That night I started Spirit Seeker.
2. Do you have a specific writing style?
I try my best to say what I mean. I don't want to alienate readers. Instead I want to bring them in to the world I've created.
3. How did you come up with the title for your book?
Talisa Santiago is a Spirit Seeker so the title of Book One came easy. The title of Book Two came from the names of each part. Part One is ILLUMINATE and Part Two is ALIVE, SHE CRIED.
4. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
In the end, I hope the readers see the world of Natives in a different light. Native Americans have beautiful traditions and a great respect for the land and the animals that live on it, but like so many of us they have such a difficult journey.
5. How much of the book is realistic?
In both novels, I have tried to bridge the gap between Native Americans and shape-shifting. With the underlying philosophical principals of the supernatural worlds, reality and fantasy are able to stand alongside one another and not be mutually exclusive.
6. What book are you reading now?
I'm rereading The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.
7. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
John Green for sure.
8. What are your current projects?
I'm writing episodic fiction for Big World Network. I currently have two series that I'm working on.
9. Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
I have more patience than I ever imagined. Also, I really do enjoy rereading words.
10. What were the challenges (research, psychological etc) in bringing your story to life?
The biggest challenge was to find the time to write.
