Court of the Hawk
Author: Debbie Peterson
Genre:
Book Description:
Epigraphist Dr. Essie DeSpencer travels to an ancient Welsh castle in order to decipher an Ogham inscription discovered by the handsome and enigmatic, Garreth ap Daffyd. But the journey is not what she expects. She doesn’t plan to fall for the Lord of the castle, or to find herself deeply entrenched in legends, myths, and magic. Real legends, and real magic, that have devastating consequences.
Garreth didn’t plan for Essie to stay any longer than it took her to decipher the pictograph. Instead, he finds himself falling in love for the first time in his very long life. Now the Lord of Llys y Gwalch must find a way to attain the heart of his soul mate and keep her safe from the dangers that threaten them both.

Author Interview
1. What inspired you to want to become a writer?
My husband must take credit for inspiring the notion that I could indeed write a full-length novel and see it through to publishing.
2. Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
The emails I receive from people who have read my books and enjoyed them are by far the most rewarding thing I’ve experienced since publication. I love sharing the stories and so it’s especially gratifying to hear from people who take as much pleasure in reading them as I do in writing them.
3. If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?
Oh my! I don’t know if I could choose just one… (The pressure!) But—if I must—since I’ve just finished rereading it, I would be absolutely thrilled if William Shakespeare stepped through time and handed me a signed original! I wouldn’t pass up a signed copy of his A Midsummer Night’s Dream either!
4. If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Time Travel. No question about it!
5. Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Because it’s FUN!
6. Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Right now I have another fantasy/romance in the hands of my most capable editor. My goals? See if I can write every book I now have swimming around inside my head before I become too old and feeble to do so!
7. Do you write as you go or do you have the book planned before you start the first draft?
I have the “what if” down pat and all of the research that goes along with it. However, I’ve learned that it’s best to allow my characters to lead me through all of the twists, turns, and the unexpected roads I’ve encountered with each book I write!
8. What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
Now don’t laugh, but I am very much looking forward to Hotel Transylvania 2…
9. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Right here in Las Vegas, because this is where most all of my family members are. Together we never fail to be a party waiting to happen!
10. Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
No, not really. Some of them know what I know and perhaps even experienced what I’ve experienced over the years. But they are all far more adventurous than what I am.

ReplyDeleteThat was a fun interview to read. Being near family is the best reason to stay in the very hot Las Vegas, and I can vouch for that.
