Author Interview
1. Tell a little about yourself. What you do when you’re not writing? What are your aspirations for the future?
When I’m not writing I spend time with my wife and my four amazing kids. I also have two crazy little dogs. So they are a handful. I try to make sure I am the best dad I can be, attending as many of my kid’s functions as possible. I love exercising and playing sports. As for the future, I plan to continue to write for as long as I can. Whether it is books, movies or TV shows. I have a lot of projects I’m always trying to get done.
2. When and why did you start writing?
2. When and why did you start writing?
I started writing stories when I was in high school. That was the first time I put cohesive thoughts together to form good stories that made sense. I wrote a silly series of stories about my best friend and his trials and tribulations of trying to land a suitable girlfriend for himself. My friends couldn’t wait to read new episodes and it really got me going. I believe it was my sophomore year. I also began writing music when I was 16. So I was definitely pouring out my heart with sappy love songs. Ha.
3. Have any particular novels or writers influenced your writing?

Robert Frost. Aaron Sorkin.
4. Give us some backstory behind The Connolly Affair. Where and when did you write it?
4. Give us some backstory behind The Connolly Affair. Where and when did you write it?
I wrote The Connolly Affair at the end of 2014 and finished draft 1 by January of this year. I wrote the book for my wife who wanted to read an exciting, suspenseful, complicated romance novel. She loves being challenged by good stories. I set out to knock her socks off. I am nearing the end of book 2 and I can tell you the series is definitely amazing and worth the read.
5. What was your favorite part of writing The Connolly Affair?
5. What was your favorite part of writing The Connolly Affair?
My favorite part of The Connolly Affair is the story inside of it. It is a creatively challenging story that will keep readers not only passionately involved in the romance, but on the edge of their seats as they get deeper into the suspense. That combination makes this book (and the rest of the trilogy) an awesome roller coaster ride.
6. What does your writing schedule look like?
6. What does your writing schedule look like?
My ideal writing schedule is hitting the computer first thing in the morning. I like to chip a little in the afternoon. And then a little late evening writing to round out the day.
7. Which fictional character would you like to take to dinner and why?
7. Which fictional character would you like to take to dinner and why?
James Bond. The reason is because it would be incredibly cool to sit and talk with him. Some great stories for certain. A close second would be Sherlock Holmes. Same reasoning.
8. Besides your lead, do you have a favorite character in the story?
8. Besides your lead, do you have a favorite character in the story?
I do. Martha Scott, the aging mother of Taylor Diamond who has Alzheimer’s. She has some, but pivotal roles in the first two books.
9. What is one of the most surprising things you've learned as a writer?
9. What is one of the most surprising things you've learned as a writer?
I love to do research. I was a history major in college and I think doing all kinds of research and discovering new things is very exciting. There’s always more to learn.
10. Any advice for aspiring authors?
10. Any advice for aspiring authors?
Write and write some more. The key to being a good writer is having a lot of practice flushing out stories. It can be in a variety of mediums. Practice makes perfect and the more writing a person can do the better they will become at their craft.
