Excerpt
Turning his back towards the door he slid to the floor emotionally drained. He took the emotional beating time and time again. He believed he deserved it for pushing May towards College; away from him forever.
Jason hated himself, his life and how it all turned out. He remembered the good Father saying. 'No good deed goes unpunished'.
Pushing his hands through his hair, he tried to find some sort of strength left in him.
The cold breeze coming in from the open Kitchen window by passed him and he allowed his sobs to not over take him. He listened to his best friend’s truck pulling away. This wasn't Drew's fault. He just wished for guidance on how to handle this. Right now if Drew was here then they would only end up fighting.
How did this child remain a secret from him?
Sitting on the floor he knew they all kept it from him. Arnold, May's father knew all along and allowed seven years to pass without so much as a hint. His thoughts on family and the connection they all shared shattered.
Jason could almost see the trust he once had for them rain down in glittering shards.
He wondered if May ever thought about him for a second. What this might do to him or their daughter?
Did she ever love him or was she looking to join the teen girl trend of having a kid before marriage; before commitment.
So many questions tormented him and his lip quivered; his teeth tried to hold it still.
“Why May?” He half-heartedly shouted out. He muffled his shout with his hands and felt his soul reach out to Abby, to God. Jason didn't have a clue on how Abby would have handled this, yet he could hear her advice surrounding him.
Almost like she was still with him.
Jason hated how good she was at this. Abby would have had a cry and forgiven him; like she had done a hundred times before he broke her heart. She would tell him to stand by his child. Her mothering instincts got into every fibre of his being.
