Season of Fire
(The Remnants #2)
Author: Lisa Tawn Bergren
Book Description:
After tackling her first mission and coming to terms with her power of empathy, Andriana discovers her first battles were only a taste of what is to come. She and her Knight, Ronan, have admitted their feelings for one another, but their bonds are tested when Keallach appears following the Remnants' attempt to free his imprisoned twin brother, Kapriel. Andriana is sure Keallach can be convinced to follow the Maker's plan, but her decision leaves her separated from her fellow Remnants and could drive a wedge between her and Ronan that proves impossible to overcome.
Author Interview
1. What inspired you to write your first book?
Hearing that a friend of a friend had written a Harlequin romance. I thought, “Well, I’ve wondered about doing that myself. I might as well try!”
2. Do you have a specific writing style?
Hmmm. I’d say it’s high-octane drama/romance/suspense.
3. How did you come up with the title for your book?
My main group of characters are the “remnants of hope for change.” In a dark world with serious enemies, it seemed appropriate that their title would also be the series title.
4. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
We are all uniquely gifted and called to use those gifts to make a positive change and contribution to society.
5. How much of the book is realistic?
Well, as a futuristic fantasy, there’s definitely a measure of suspending disbelief necessary, but I would hope all my fiction so captures a reader that they’re willing to go Even There with me!
6. What book are you reading now?
McCullough’s 1776.
7. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I’m into Susanna Kearsley at the moment because I love time travel and her books feel like a restful “break” to me. Last new-discovery author for me was R. Palacio, author of WONDER.
8. What are your current projects?
REMNANTS 3: SEASON OF GLORY and then back to a new time travel book and sequel.
9. Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
We all go through trials—we need to dig deep in the center of the fire to rely on our foundations—what we know in our heart and mind to be true, regardless of how things seem.
10. What were the challenges (research, psychological etc) in bringing your story to life?
Well, I’ve frequently written historicals, which gives me some basis for world-building. Going to the future, it was all conjecture on my part-what might happen to the world in terms of war, environmental change, and social implications. In my mind, post WWIII, we might revert to a more medieval, feudalistic society again.
