Arabella Holmes was born different and raised different. Henry Watson arrives at the Mutter Museum with a double assignment--to become a finder of abnormal antiquities and to watch over and keep Arabella Holmes. An easy task, if he could only get her to speak to him instead of throwing knives in his general direction.

But this is no time for child's play. The two teens are assigned to a most secret exploration, when the hand of a Nephilim is unearthed in upstate New York. Soon, Arabella and Henry are caught in a fight for their lives as scientific debate swirls around them. Are the bones from a Neanderthal ... or are they living proof of fallen angels, who supposedly mated with humans according to ancient scrolls?

Sent to recover the skeleton, they discover they are the second team to have been deployed and the entire first team is dead. And now they must trust their instincts and rely on one another in order to survive and uncover the truth.

Guest Post - How do you develop your writing ideas?

Hmm. Well…like my character Arabella Holmes…I have fascinations.

So I will become interested in a particular subject, and research it ad nauseum. I will give you a recent example as it does apply to BONESEEKER—though about Book 2. For today, we will just talk SETTING.

My father was a history teacher. When I was young, he forced me to visit all sorts of historical sites—which at the time I detested…and now cannot get enough.

The visit most burned in my cortex was Alcatraz. I was only 9 at the time, but the feeling of the place…I will never forget. Brooding, pressing despair just lives in those concrete walls.

Fast forward to today. My setting for BONESEEKER 2 is an 19^th century asylum. Which led me to Transallegheny Lunatic Asylum.

Have you ever heard of urban exploration? Well, this trip could truly be classified as such.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, subsequently the Weston State Hospital, was a Kirkbride^[3] psychiatric hospital that operated from 1864 until 1994 by the government of theU.S. state of West Virginia, in the city of Weston. Built by architect Richard Andrews, it was constructed from 1858-1881. Originally designed to hold 250 people, it became overcrowded in the 1950s with 2,400 patients. It was forcibly closed in 1994 due to changes in treatments of patients. The first to be committed was a female housekeeper. The hospital was bought by Joe Jordan in 2007, and partly opened to tours and other money raising events for its restoration.^[4] The hospital's main building is one of the largest hand-cut stone masonry buildings in the United States, and, is the second largest hand-cut sandstone building in the World, with the only bigger one being The Kremlin. As Weston Hospital Main Building, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1990.^[2][5]

There is no better way than to live your setting than historical tours. For this tour, it was February and freezing. It was all too easy to imagine how difficult it would be to heat. The place is vast—don’t quote me—but estimated if you walked every floor from start to finish, approximately four miles. And it is surrounded by hundreds of acres. It was at one time self-sustaining. It was also used as a Civil War hospital.

So…I hope you will follow Henry and Arabella…as they explore upstate New York and burial grounds in BONESEEKER Book One…and follow them into the asylum in Book Two.

I can promise you the ride shall ever be dark and bumpy.  ;)
