GUEST POST
The Journey of Playing With Fire

In 2013, I went to Disney World with my Daughter and two grand kids.  We decided that we should attempt a young adult book together.
One day into young adult, I gave up.  That was not for me.  My writing took a distinctly different turn when a horrendous local crime absorbed my attention.  I began to explore how a normal person, in this case a librarian, could become a serial killer.  I needed to develop the factors;  his relationships, the motives, the emotions, and at the same time develop how and why another normal person whould pursue and cature him.
My novel, "Playing with Fire," explains one man's decent into the abyss.  Why he is unable to stop. And the factors which drive his pursuer on despite the danger and hardships.  It makes for an exciting read that is difficult to put down.
In my research, I climbed to the Appalachan Trail at the entrance to the Smokey Mountains National Forest near Fayetteville, NC.  I stayed three days camping and writing down my experiences.  I traveled from Assateague Island in Maryland, all the way south to the Florida keys.  I have changed a lot of names in the book, but when I talk about a location, it exists.
I usually write for four hours daily, in the morning.  I listen to the blues while a write.  Usually Sarah Vaughn or Pheobe Snow.
My hero/detective is an older man.  As I am an older man.  He has many limitations, as I have limitations.  Still, age and limitations do not prevent an individual from being a hero.  Captain American can easily be a hero, but so can his father. I am 70 years old, survived an aggressive cancer, have an artifical knee because of Vietnam, and due to agent orange poisoning, have peripheral nuerapathy.  I'm not done yet.  I expect to write at least three more books next year.
I am on Facebook, have a web site, am a member of Feather Quill and Cold Coffee Cafe.  I have given readings at several Libraries, attend several writing clubs, and most weekends I can be found at book signings, flea markets, or any public place where I can get people together so I can tell them about my book.
