Interview

1. Please tell the readers a bit about yourself.

I’m Nikki.  I’m twenty two years old and I write stories.  :P

2. What types of books do you write?

I actually started out writing Fantasy, believe it or not, and then I branched out and found my home in Paranormal/Urban fantasy.  Basically vampires, werewolves, demons and witches are my forte.

3. How many books have you written?

A LOT.

4. What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?

I’m really excited for the second in the Hunger Games Trilogy, Catching Fire.

5. What type of books do you enjoy reading?

I actually only enjoy reading books with some element of fantasy or paranormal.  In other words: someone, somewhere within those pages needs to get bitten by something.  I’ve found that contemporary (normal) lit either bores or depresses me.

6. If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?

1. Laptop
2. Juice
3. Internet

7. Are you considering a sequel?

Taint is actually part of a series.

8. What inspired you to become a writer?

I am a habitual daydreamer.  I daydream about imaginary people constantly and have ever since I was very young.  Writing keeps me sane and gives me and outlet for my crazy characters.

Interview

1. Please tell the readers a bit about yourself.

Well, I hail from America, and I come from a good-sized family. There are ten kids in all, and I'm number five. I'm sixteen, and besides writing my books, I like to read, hang out with my various siblings, and fight vampire ninjas.

2. What types of books do you write?

As of right now, it's Teen Fiction/Action, but I'm thinking about branching off into Teen Urban Fantasy.

3. How many books have you written?

This is my first book, but I'm working on a couple others: the sequel to Warrior and the aforementioned Urban Fantasy book.

4. What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?

That's a hard one! Well, for 2014, there's The LEGO Movie. I'm really pumped about that. Bookwise, I'm looking forward to the next book in the Heroes of Olympus series, the Blood of Olympus.

5. What type of books do you enjoy reading?

Mostly Fantasy, such as the Inheritance Cycle, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia and others like that. Any book by Steven James. I also enjoy the Art of War by Sun Tzu. If you haven't read that, go get a copy. It's amazing. Besides those, my number one favorite is the Bible. Even if you don't agree with everything in it, it's go some amazing things in it.

6. If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?

1. First off, Bear Grylls. The man can survive anywhere.
2. Second, a giant, plush baby cheetah.
3. Third, an Oceanic Airlines ticket. We'll have to go back, Kate. (LOST reference)

7. Are you considering a sequel?

Definitely! In fact, I'm writing it right now.

8. What inspired you to become a writer?

I really love reading, and as I would read, I would get ideas for stories. Eventually, I decided I wanted to write down the ideas. From that came my first book, a rather pathetic attempt which shall never see the light of day.

Excerpt

I move away from the grille, as she pulls it open and slides into the room after me. I The library here is similar, no, identical in layout to the one on Level 10. The only difference is the books. They have several I’ve never even heard of.

The library is empty. I glance at Lee. “Have you tried going outside the room?” She nods. “Yeah, but as soon as I crossed the door, an alarm of some kind went off, and I hid in the ducts. I haven’t tried since.”

I nod, thinking. Obviously, we’ve never had that problem on our levels. As I stand there thinking, I hear the door open. My eyes meet Lee’s, and we both decide the same thing. We hide behind bookshelves. It would take too long to get back inside the grille and put it back into place. I look around the corner of the bookshelf carefully.

Then I see who walked into the room.

It’s me.

Interview

1. Please tell the readers a bit about yourself.

My name’s Ellie and I’m nineteen. I’m from Australia and I’ve been writing for probably ten years now. I love reading and writing and I spend most of my spare time doing so. Having my work published at some point is my ultimate dream. But at the moment I’m studying medicine and just attempting to keep up my writing in my spare time.

2. What types of books do you write?

I love writing fantasy and the majority of my writing involves dragons of some sort. I recently discovered that I really enjoy writing paranormal as well and so I’m currently working on about three of those. Also attempting a bit of romance, we’ll see how that goes…

3. How many books have you written?

The Devil’s Daughter will be my first completed book, I have written a few short stories and a fair bit of poetry. The rest of my writing is still a work in progress that I will hopefully finish after I complete this one.

4. What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?

Catching Fire was the movie I was looking forward to this year, I love the Hunger Games! So obviously I can’t wait for Mockingjay to come out next year. And the movie for Fallen would be awesome.

5. What type of books do you enjoy reading?

I love reading almost any fiction. Generally I prefer fantasy or paranormal and occasionally romance or crime. My favourite books are The Hunger Games, The Inheritance Cycle, The Host, The Scorpio Races, and the Dragons of Pern.

6. If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?

1. Food and water…does that count as one or two? Oh well, I’m counting it as one…
2. My dog, because he’s awesome and I can’t leave him behind.
3. A good book to read because I love reading and so that I don’t get bored.

7. Are you considering a sequel?

I’m not entirely sure about writing a sequel, I find in a lot of cases sequels aren’t necessary and it sometimes ruins the story and I really don’t want to write a sequel that doesn’t live up to expectation. I love the characters in this book and I’m not looking forward to leaving them behind. But, since I haven’t finished the first book yet, we’ll just have to see when the time comes.

8. What inspired you to become a writer?

I guess it was reading really. I love getting lost in a story. When I started to get characters running around in my head and worlds creating themselves in my mind, writing them down was just the thing to do. Some of them don’t get far but I love coming up with ideas and working to find a way for my characters to make things happen. Creating twists and turns and events that I didn’t even see coming and finding ways to make everything fit together to create a story is the best feeling and I just love doing it.

Excerpt

"How long do you intend to stand there, projecting your thoughts to anyone with the ability to hear them?" I jump at the voice, unprepared for company. Wings flaring and blade in hand I whirl on the intruder, ready for a fight.

I have him up against the wall, blade to his throat before he even has the chance to draw his weapon.
"It's me." Razakiel says, his voice almost bored, despite the steel at his throat. His dark, green eyes are guarded as he looks down at me, no emotion visible in their depths. “A bit jumpy are we, Abby?” A jolt runs through me at his casual use of the name, only Chase ever calls me Abby. And he only ever does so in private.

"How long have you been here?" Despite my attempt to sound confident and demanding, it comes out almost a whisper, fear leaking into my tone.

"Well, I was never asleep, if that answers your question." I almost drop my knife at the shudder of trepidation that runs through me. He knows. He knows and as soon as he tells Lucifer I’m dead; he’ll torture me, use me in his plans and then kill me, or lock me up until he needs me again. I can’t let it happen. I don’t think I’ll survive going under his knife again, let alone being the sole cause of Heaven’s downfall.

Determination fills me as an escape route comes to mind. I press the blade deeper into his skin, feeling the edge bite in, letting blood bead around the silver surface.

"So, I just have to kill you then?" For the first time, emotion flickers in his eyes, and a look of surprise crosses his sharp features, like he didn’t expect me to stand up for myself. Then he wipes the look from his face and the blank, guarded expression is back.

"You couldn’t kill me." He says as his hands come up, from where they had been resting at his sides, and shove me from him. In my surprise, I stumble back. Only able to watch as his own blade appears in his hands, and I lose any advantage I might have had.

My feet mirror his as he steps around me, attempting to gain an advantage. We circle each other. Waiting. His body shifts as he leaps towards me and I dive. I slide beneath him, while he stumbles with nothing to slow his momentum and hits the wall. With a light flap of my wings I’m back on my feet facing him. As he attempts to regain his balance and turn to face me. I rush at him. Blade pointed at his heart. He twists at the last second and it barely grazes his side.

"You cut me!" He exclaims, voice overflowing with disbelief.

"I said I was going to kill you. What did you expect? That I’d just let you win?" He regards me from the opposite side of the tunnel, a spark igniting in his eyes. Incredulity fills me as a smirk crosses his face.

Almost indignant at his careless attitude I run at him again desperate to slide my blade between his ribs; anything to prove that I can and will kill him. His smirk remains on his face even as my blade is centimetres from his chest. At the last second, he moves again twisting out from under the knife. I hit the wall and before I can turn on him again he presses his body into my back forcing me up against the rough-hewn wall. His hands reach down and grip mine, squeezing until I drop the weapon, then raising both my arms above my head and holding them in one of his. I almost growl in protest as I struggle against him. It doesn’t shift him though, he only presses harder against me forcing me into the wall.

Adrenaline rushes through my veins as my heart races in my chest, but I can’t get him off of me. I know he can’t kill me; but he will take me to Lucifer, and the thought of that makes me wish he would drive his knife through my chest. Death would be better than my current fate.
