Author Interview
1. What inspired you to want to become a writer?
My grade two teacher reading us, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. She used to read a few paragraphs at a time, at the end of the day, before the bell went. Everyday for those 10 to 15 minutes I was transported to a world of wonder, adventure, awe, sadness, outrage at the unfairness of passages, trepidation and anticipation. The power of C.S. Lewis’s words, and storytelling, left a huge impression on me. I wanted to be able to guide readers on similar voyages to the imagination.
2. Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
I love when readers write to tell me they couldn’t put the book down, that they kept turning the pages until the wee hours. I love hearing that they enjoyed the story, and the characters, and can’t wait to read the second book to find out what happens next.
3. If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?
Definitely, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
4. If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
If I had any superpower I would choose to be a fairy godmother granting wishes without anyone knowing it was me doing it.
5. Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Read Hunters of the Dream to enter a world of magic and wonder where, the imaginary entwines with the ‘real’ world, inviting you to question what powers you really carry within your soul.
6. Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I’m currently working on the second book of the Hunters of the Dream Trilogy, Book Two: The Awakening.
I’m also developing a membership website for readers who would like to continue their journey into the world of Hunters of the Dream. Membership is free to Hunters of the Dream readers, and grants them access to complimentary art and writing projects. Paid modules will also be available for a nominal fee. The paid modules will be especially appealing to youth, parents and home schoolers who are interested in developing a deeper understanding of our sacred connections to the natural and Spirit world through a variety of teachings and videos. http://bit.ly/EnterAWorldofWonder
7. Do you write as you go or do you have the book planned before you start the first draft?
I write as I go along.
8. What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
I’m looking forward to watching the documentary: The Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin, directed and produced by Arwen Curry.
9. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
I love where I am. I don’t want to live anywhere but here, on Salt Spring Island on Alchemy Farm.
10. Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
We are all multi-faceted beings, so yes, I can see bits of myself reflected in each of the characters.
