Author Interview

1. Tell a little about yourself. What you do when you’re not writing? What are your aspirations for the future?
Hi there. Born and raised in South Africa, Northern Cape parts. I share my life with my hubby and three little monsters. When I am not writing I either read or play around in the garden. Total green fairy with the green thumb and everything. Love the outdoors and sunshine. I hope to have my two new series out and published in the near future.

2. When and why did you start writing?
Well for a while my main character was running amok in my mind, but I was just too scared to even try and write a novel. Then when I was at home just after my third pregnancy I just decided to give it a go and see what happens.

3. Have any particular novels or writers influenced your writing?
A bunch, but mainly Gena Showalter and Richelle Mead.

4. Give us some backstory behind Kasadya: Hellhound Awakened. Where and when did you write it?
I started writing Kasadya in 2011. Home alone with my new baby son I decided to try and get this crazy hellhound out of my mind and started writing. Well soon enough I had a complete novel.

5. What was your favourite part of writing Kasadya: Hellhound Awakened?
Watching Kasadya grow within the series. She starts out like any bratty teen and as her world spirals out of control she starts getting the picture and what she needs to become in order to save it.

6. What does your writing schedule look like?
Ha, with my three little monsters, it’s tight. I try to get about three hours of writing in a day.

7. Which fictional character would you like to take to dinner and why?
Nix from the Immortals After Dark Series, I think she would totally blow my mind ;)

8. Besides your lead, do you have a favourite character in the story?
Nanini, I just have a soft spot for her and the girl is crazy.

9. What is one of the most surprising things you've learned as a writer?
That it is a lot of hard work. If you think the writing part is difficult wait until after that. Its take time and dedication. But with the amazing people you get to meet along the way it’s worth every step.

10. Any advice for aspiring authors?
Write with your own inspiration and style, not with another’s. It’s scary yes, but worth it. And never stop writing for anything.
