Tagline: My father is a righteous man but I am just a man…who loves a woman

Book Description:
Ham is a man of passion and questions. He's adored his wife, Lita, since he first saw her draped in her father's fishing nets and threatened to leave with her if his father, Noah, didn't allow the marriage. She becomes his greatest comfort when Ham is at odds with his father and brothers.

When Noah claims their God has commanded him to build an Ark to escape a devastating flood, Ham worries about the construction stripping the land and the community's ridicule of the family. He and Lita draw closer together as outsiders. They're shocked when the rains come and the entire family is forced into the Ark, along with the animals that appeared.

Confinement and uncertainty of fate amongst the refugees exaggerate normal family tension, rivalries and forbidden love. On land, they reject efforts to reestablish traditions, feeling independent and invincible, as those chosen by their God to survive and thrive. But for Ham, there's tragedy and more doubt.

Noah warns him he must yield his will, lest there be even graver consequences. Ham can't imagine anything worse and careens down the path that forever links him with depravity and harsh judgment.

Release Blitz - Slouch Witch by Helen Harper

Slouch Witch
Author: Helen Harper
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Date Published: June 8th, 2017

Book Description:
Hard Work Will Pay Off Later. Laziness Pays Off Now.

Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact, she's probably the last witch in the world who you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa where she could watch TV, munch junk food and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content.

However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch, the investigative department of the Hallowed Order of Magical Enlightenment. Her problems are quadrupled when a valuable object is stolen right from under the Order's noses. It doesn't exactly help that she's been magically bound to Adeptus Exemptus Raphael Winter. He might have piercing sapphire eyes and a body which a cover model would be proud of but, as far as Ivy's concerned, he's a walking advertisement for the joyless perils of too much witch-work. And if he makes her go to the gym again, she's definitely going to turn him into a frog.

Book Blast & Giveaway - Two Truths and a Lie: It’s Alive by Ammi-Joan Paquette & Laurie A. Thompson

http://www.jeanbooknerd.com/2017/04/nerd-blast-two-truths-and-lie-its-alive.html

TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE: IT'S ALIVE
Author:
Ammi-Joan Paquette & Laurie A. Thompson Official Nerd Blast.

Book Descritpion:
Two Truths and a Lie is the first book in a fascinating new series that presents some of the most crazy-but-true stories about the living world as well as a handful of stories that are too crazy to be true—and asks readers to separate facts from the fakes!

Did you know that there is a fungus that can control the mind of an ant and make it do its bidding? Would you believe there is such a thing as a corpse flower—a ten-foot-tall plant with a blossom that smells like a zombie? How about a species of octopus that doesn’t live in water but rather lurks in trees in the Pacific Northwest?

Every story in this book is strange and astounding. But not all of them are real. Just like the old game in this book’s title, two out of every three stories are completely true and one is an outright lie. Can you guess which? It’s not going to be easy. Some false stories are based on truth, and some of the true stories are just plain unbelievable. And they’re all accompanied by dozens of photos, maps, and illustrations. Amaze yourself and trick your friends as you sort out the fakes from the facts!

Acclaimed authors Ammi-Joan Paquette and Laurie Ann Thompson have teamed up to create a series of sneaky stories about the natural world designed to amaze, disgust, and occasionally bamboozle you.

MY REVIEW

Sophie Evans is your average teenager, living a normal life, until one day, the extraordinary happens. Sophie finds herself facing off with monstrous creatures. Aided by people with unusual abilities, she manages to get to safety. She doesn't know who to trust, particularly because no one is willing to share any information with her, so all she can do is trust those who swear to her that they're here to protect her from harm. But just what is it they're protecting her from and why is everyone so interested in an ordinary girl like Sophie Evans?

Dalysian Hope is a book that has the potential to drag you from your reality and whisk you off on an adventure of a lifetime; unfortunately, it lacked a certain configuration of identity, primarily on the basis of plot development, which ultimately affected the knowledge of the world being portrayed. Throughout reading the book, I often found myself becoming frustrated at the persistant hesitation to offer any form explanation to help draw the story out of its shell. I like a good mystery, but there wasn't much to work with. What I found most discouraging was not the fact that there were no answers to satisfy Sophie's inquisitive nature but that the characters kept saying they couldn't disclose anything to Sophie every single instance where she posed a question. That was the go-to answer for everything. It was just used too often.

Despite the lack of plot development, I did like the characters, especially Ren, the dark and mysterious love interest. Although I thought Sophie was a likeable character, she didn't drive the story. There was no push from her angle. She was clearly unsatisfied with no one providing her with any information, but she didn't pose any challenges to gain information. While residing at her family's holiday home, training for tests she knew nothing about, the story lagged, which I found disappointing as it kicked off with such a great start, full of mystery and suspense. It did pick up again towards the ending, but it took so long to get going that when it did, the story didn't fully captivate me.

Still, I found the book to have so much potential, and there were occassional moments that were so intriguing that I couldn't give up on the story. I needed to get to the end to find out where Sophie and her friends were going to end up. I fought so hard to love this story, and even though it didn't whisk me away, it did have enough impact on me to make me want to find out more. It's a good read. It just needs more consideration in certain areas to establish plot structure and progression.
