Blog Tour Spotlight & Giveaway - Precipice by M. Pax

Precipice
Author: M. Pax
Genre: Science Fiction

Book Description:
In the far future, humanity settles the stars, bioengineering its descendants to survive in a harsh universe. This is the sixth book in the science fiction series, The Backworlds. A space opera adventure.

The Backworlds hang by a Quantum string, a thread about to snap. Annihilation is coming if Craze can’t stop it.

The genocidal alien he had trapped breaks free, destroying a ship belonging to the Backworlds’ oldest enemy, the Fo’wo’s. The murderous alien wants to overtake the galaxy. The Fo’wo’s want another war.

The Backworlds’ best chance to survive is to overcome a century of hate and forge an alliance with the Fo’wo’s. Because of his history with the alien, Craze is recruited to represent his people. Now he’s the most hated man in the galaxy.

The looming war will be a holocaust unless he can stop it, knowing salvation comes at a price.

Boing Boing gives The Backworlds 5 stars! "This is a fun, fast paced novel that reminded me a bit of early Heinlein".

Author Interview

1. What inspired you to want to become a writer?

A great story is magic. I’ve imagined living inside the stories of others, then I began to weave my own tales. It’s the best job there is.

2. Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Fan mail. Learning others enjoy what I love doing is the most fantastic aspect of writing. It’s wonderful I can give the magic of my invented worlds.

3. If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?
2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke. The world he created in this novel inspires me to sit and think. The sense of awe he gave me hasn’t faded.

4. If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I’d want to be like Samantha in Bewitched, twitch my nose and have the house clean, chores done, and be my own assistant.

5. Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
It’s about discovery of ourselves and facing adversity, the little guy finding his way in life.

6. Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
This is the sixth book in the Backworlds series. There are at least four more coming. I also publish another series, The Rifters. I’m in the midst of the third book, which will be my next release.

7. Do you write as you go or do you have the book planned before you start the first draft?
I planned the series ahead of time, and I become more and more of a planner with each book. My loose planning becomes more precise.

8. What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
Jurassic World and Star Wars. Don’t have to wait much longer for Jurassic World. Yay!

9. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Where I live now, Central Oregon. I grew up on the Great Lakes and never imagined I’d love living in a small town in the middle of the arid west. Two blocks to the left the wilderness begins, and it’s so stunning.

10. Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
I used to invent roles for myself in the make believe worlds of others. Now I invent a role for myself in the stories I create. The character isn’t so much me as a wish to live in the world I created. My characters often make me laugh and I’m impressed by their courage and tenacity. They definitely get tenacity from me.
