Genre: YA Fantasy Adventure
Format: Paperback, Kindle

Book Description:
GUARDIANS INC.: THE CYPHER is two stories in one. A glimpse into a multinational company that is in reality the oldest of secret societies, one that spans close to seven thousand years of existence, weaving in and out of history, guiding and protecting humanity from creatures and forces that most of us believe are only mythology and fairy tales.

The other is the story of Thomas Byrne, a young man thrust into secrets he shouldn’t be aware of and dangers he shouldn’t face but, that he ultimately will, for he is a Cypher. The only one who can steer humanity’s future.

The ultimate conspiracy theory is that Magic is real. Kept in check by technology but, every five hundred years the balance can shift and, if it does, technology will fail and those creatures we’ve driven into myth will come back with a vengeance.

To protect the present, Guardians Incorporated needs to know the future, and to unlock the future they need a Cypher.

This is the first book of the Guardians Inc Series.

GUEST POST

“Stop trying to tell me what it is about and let me read it….You sound like a crazy person.”

That’s what my friend Francisco Trueba said when I explained to him what Guardians Inc. was all about. He was right.  After sending him the book, I replayed in my mind the things I told him (and a couple of dozen more people) about the book and realized that it was a difficult book to explain.
I sat down and actually recorded an explanation to hear how I sounded, I left it to simmer for a couple of days and then replayed it. (Listening with headphones, just in case my wife was around and I sounded crazier than usual in the recording.)

Mythology mixed with sci-fi mixed with history mixed with fantasy and conspiracy theories…all in a contemporary setting…Magic, talking animals, a city under central park, a robot that’s in reality…. A mansion that has doors to everywhere in the world, and a library with all the tomes ever written… And so on and so forth….

Suddenly all those times my friends looked at me with a mix of disbelief and pity made sense!
I did sound like a crazy person.

It was better to just give it out for people to read it, so that’s what I did.

Francisco was the first one to read it and he was the one that helped me put it into print, because it made sense once read. So much sense that it was a good idea to just give it for free.

So, the Cypher has been in Perma-Free Status for about a year and a half now and has been downloaded a little over 150,000 times and only one review, (of the third book which is by design convoluted) has been printed about how complicated it is.

It turns out that it’s not so crazy when its being read, and that is the best thing I could’ve been told because now I don’t sound like a crazy person…

Although I probably can count as one.
