Blog Tour Author Interview & Giveaway - You Killed My Brother by Keith Rommel

You Killed My Brother
Author: Keith Rommel
Release Date: June 2013
Genre: Suspense, Thriller, Crime, Fiction
Publisher: GMTA Publishing LLC
Presented by: As You Wish Tours

Book Description:
Rainer is an affluent doctor and is involved in a car crash with a drunken man that’s a member of a local street gang. The doctor becomes a paraplegic and his brother, Glenn, is on the police force, and places his desire for revenge on hold to prove the judicial system works.

But when the drunken man is found not guilty, Glenn loses his trust in the system and kills the man responsible for paralyzing his brother. The gang responds to the slaying by targeting members of the police force, local business owners and his own family.

The two sides suffer casualty’s, one after the other, in this show of “for every action, there is a reaction”. The gang is dismantled and Rainer’s family is fragmented, giving a haunting sense that the need for revenge is toxic and how a decision to drive while intoxicated can dramatically change the course of many lives.

Author Interview

1. Who are your favourite authors of all time?

It's difficult for me to pinpoint one single author as I have been influenced by many and my taste has shifted throughout the years as I began to explore different genre's. If I was to name some of the author's I've enjoyed in the past, I would say Anne Rice, Stephen King, Iris Johansen and R. A. Salvatore.

2. If you could travel in a time machine would you go back to the past or into the future?

The future simply because I am curious as to how technology and science will advance.

3. If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?

The Shining by Stephen King. This is a classic all horror and suspense writer's and readers alike should .
4. If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?

Jesus (I have a million questions to ask him), my father (he passed away 4 years ago and I'd do about anything to have another moment with him), my mother and two children for both reasons I said above.

5. Have any hidden talents you would like to share?

I can have a totally coherent conversation with someone and not even realize it. Just ask my wife. :-)

6. Do the words come easily most of the time? How do you unblock your writer’s block?

As I'm shaping and writing my novels, the words never come easy. It is a process of revision, waiting and revising again. The waiting is merely a few week stretch where I stay away from the story to clear my head so I can come back to it with fresh eyes.

7. Which character is your favourite and why?

Ruth. She provokes the entire "war" between the gang and the upper class people over a harmless act of a child. Throughout the entire story she manipulates and lies to the people just because she likes conflict.

8. When it comes to writing, what are your strong points? What are your weaknesses?

My strong points are voice and the ability to weave in unpredictable twists in the plot. My weaknesses are my ability to actually tell someone how I'm able to do that. Often times my final product is much different than my original outline.

9. What type of books do you enjoy reading?

I mostly read horror, thriller, suspense and crime with a psychological spin. I don't like cookie cutter stories and love to have my imagination challenged.

10. How long does it take you to write a book?

Since my first novel which took me five years, I am now averaging about a book a year.
